bedankt!

me running with exhausted man behind me

Thanks to all who sponsored me - it was a very challenging run! I completed it without pains though, which was a big relief, and in 58 minutes. Nice atmosphere, many people running for a good cause (but i bet ultimately for themselves too :), with messages on their back "in memory of...". The best one i saw said: "My auntie U's left boob". It wasn't a sad day at all, fortunately.

Oh and check out Celine's blog, she has published an interview with me! ;-)

bit of a red head but fairly relaxed

[noticed the new haircut, by the way?]

Sponsor me for Cancer Research UK

Next week I will join a race for the Cancer Research UK. They are the biggest funding body in the UK, for any kind of cancer research (from prevention and cure to support). If you'd like to sponsor me, please click the link above.

BEDANKT / THANKS !

North Wales - near Conwy

I'm always late with this - I wonder if I'll ever improve in speed :-)
But here you go, the pics of our trip to North-Wales!

We left for a long weekend with some friends, to spend our nights in tents on the grounds of a cottage on the top of a hill (mountain for the Dutchies). The cottage was very desolate - very romantic! And full of sheep :-), very nice waking up because of those uncopyable sounds that sheep can make, zipping open your tent and then giving some sheep a heart attack.. hehehe... Pretty athletic sheep there by the way, did you know they jump over the stone walls? Really, we've seen them doing it!

Anyway, it was also full of people that weekend, and everyone went seperate ways during the day. We went hiking in the beautiful surroundings of the National Park called "Snowdonia". It took us about 9 hours, including several breaks and a swim (well, only Celine and I dared to challenge the freezing cold lake). On the pics you'll find Sarah, a very nice girl from Canada who worked as an intership student with me over the summer (McGill sweater), the other Dutchie PhD student Jette (blond haired girl who looks like she's going shopping - the least complaining of all of us - this must have been a doddle for her :), then there is Celine (the crazy one), Jenny (with the sunglasses), looooaaaads of sheep and even some ponies (including one with an erection!?!), and us.

The next day we went for some bouldering, but it was so hot that some of us hid in the shade (Jette and I reading articles... I think I'll use that picture if anyone ever dares to say I don't work hard enough ;-), and then for a proper swim in a more comfortable lake. It is in that lake that Richard lost his car keys... and had to hang around another day waiting for someone to fix it and drive home.

We were soo lucky... playing with our luck, spending a whole weekend in Wales... and it did not even rain a single drop!
