A relaxed, continental style approach seems far, far away

It seems that pubs in England do have the opportunity to stay open longer, because the new "biggest-ever change in our antiquated drinking laws" has not triggered many pubs to apply for longer hours. Why? They are afraid of rowdy anti social youngsters in city centres.

That brings me to exactly those young drinkers here in Nottingham, the girls in particular. It seems like they would rather put on a lot of alcohol instead of a coat. But wait, they do not only refuse to wear a coat, they also dress as if they live in California. Stockings remain to be invented, sandals are on sale all year long, skirts and dresses are shorter than the average mini-skirt length, and deep-cleavage (oh yes, cleavages they have!!!) tops have spaghetti-straps if not strapless. The result is an aweful lot of visible white flesh on the streets in city centre Nottingham on friday and saturday nights. This is why I think it is an excellent idea for pubs to close before it gets too cold outside: it is for the protection of the health of the female population below 20 years old!
